If you have certain features on your website that are restricted to people with a username and password, you likely only want those people to access it. The problem is that some people give their login credentials away, so, for example, their friends can access paid content for free. There’s an easy solution to this problem, with Cpanel.
Called “Leech Protect,” this feature detects suspicious activity and directs those users to a separate URL of your choosing. Under “Security,” click on the Leech Protect icon. Choose the directory that you wish to protect, and then configure the rest of your settings.
Among the options that you can configure are how many times you want a user to be able to login within a 120-minute time frame. Next, you can set up a URL to send suspicious users to, and an e-mail address where alerts can be sent to you.
Finally, click on the “Enable” button to turn the Leech Protect feature on. At this point, the directory that you set up will be protected, making it more difficult for rogue users to abuse your paid or otherwise protected areas.
